In the UK, Barclaycard and InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) have announced the launch of the Priority Club Rewards Visa credit card.

The card offers customers a great way to earn rewards that can be redeemed at IHG hotels and to celebrate the launch; cardholders will earn 10,000 bonus points when they first use their card - enough for a free night at selected Express by Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn properties worldwide.

Barclaycard has announced plans to issue over one million contactless cards this year across the UK. Barclaycard began issuing contactless enabled cards in London in September 2007 with the launch of Barclaycard OnePulse, the 3-in-1 card featuring Oyster, credit and contactless payment functions.

Aite Group, a financial advice service company, has introduced a new report investigating a demand for a decoupled debit card. “Decoupled debit” is a new payment mechanism where a traditional deposit account is alienated from the issuer of the debit card. An intermediate service provider, other than the customer’s bank, issues a client a new debit card and settles the transactions done on the card.

Visa is to raise $19 billion

The world’s biggest credit card company is planning to raise $19 billion from a long planned for public offering of its shares. This event can become the largest initial public offering in US history. On Monday during filing the necessary paperwork at the Securities and Exchange Commission Visa officials claimed that the shares are planned to be sold at between $37 and $42 each.
