Payment system Moneybookers has launched a Facebook application to send and receive money over a profile on a social network site.
At the moment the software is put in the trial beta mode and it is planned to be rolled out in June. Anyone using Facebook will be able to make payments to and from each other.

Chaps euro system is to be shut down
Apacs, the UK payment association, scheduled to shut down its Chaps euro clearing service today. The systems started its operation in January 1999and provided a same-day domestic euro service. The association came to this decision after reviewing the UK's position on the euro.

Payment systems rolled out for African banks
A contractual agreement was signed by VeriFone Holdings Inc. and two leading transaction switching and electronic payment companies, Ferlo and Byte Tech, headquartered in Dakar, Senegal. The agreement has to do with the distribution of VeriFone payment solutions throughout the UEMOA (Union Economique et Monetaire Ouest Africaine) countries as well as Cameroon.
