Use of mobile phones depends on skin color? Survey results

According to the recent survey published by eMarketer, black and Hispanic adults are more active in using mobile internet compared to white adults. As per result of the study conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Foundation in May 2010 only 80% of non-Hispanic white adults own a mobile phone, compared to 87% of black and Hispanic adults. However even having sophisticated smartphones the adults cannot use all their features, including mobile Internet. Though not all of them.

China replaces Japan and becomes the world’s second largest economy

Japan has been replaced by China as the world’s second largest economy which is a result of 30 years of rapid growth. According to the projections made by the World Bank, Goldman Sachs and others depending on how fast its exchange rate rises, China is on course to overtake the United States and vault into the No.1 spot sometime around 2025.

PayPal plans to break in the profitable break in the Japanese market   by making an effort to enter it, despite the absence of eBay in the country.

eBay left the Japanese market in 2002, the same year it acquired PayPal, conceding the country to Yahoo Japan.

As it was recently found, PC gamers are more open to trying weird games.

One of such a weird games is Zeno Clash, that was a a first-person brawler in which a gamer explored a strange, colorful world and beat the stuffing out of its inhabitants, many of whom were bird people. Moreover, it seemed to be awesome.

Porn industry continues its policy of being a diligent follower of modern trends in hi-tech. Soon after Apple launched its iPhone 4 with the FaceTime feature adult-entertainment companies started developing video-sex chats and hiring workers through Craigslist.

In at least five cities, Craigslist ads seek models specifically for video sex chat on FaceTime. Many of the ads even offer to throw in a free iPhone 4 for the new employees.

PartyGaming and Bwin create the largest online gambling company in the world

As the US lawmakers seem to reconsider the legislation for the online gambling in the United States PartyGaming and Bwin have agreed to merge. The merged company will be the world's largest listed online gaming company, with pro forma revenues for 2009 of €682m and earnings of €196m.

Under the terms of the merger agreement 48.36% of the joint company will be owned by PartyGaming shareholders and 51.64% owned by Bwin investors.

Apple says it knows that its iOS4 is a bullsh*t, the solution is coming

After numerous complaints posted by users on the online forums Apple started an investigation into the problems with the latest iPhone operating system. The new OS works with glitches on the iPhone 3G and since the iOS 4 software became available in late June, user concerns have surfaced on Apple forums. Apple announced that it is aware of the issues and is working to resolve them.

Will Goldman Sachs buy Slovenian largest bank?

As it became known on Friday, Goldman Sachs intends to adopt Nova Ljubljanska Banka (NLB), Slovenia's largest bank, 48% of which hold by government and its affiliated. 

Government would also approve a possible takeover of NLB by Belgian banking and insurance group KBC, according to the official resources.

YouTube’s extending maximum download length up to 15 minutes

As it became known YouTube is now planning to boost the maximum upload length to 15 minutes, giving the site’s millions of amateur directors a bit more leg room. 

It’s well known, for years YouTube has enabled its users to upload as many videos as they wanted, but no more than 10 minutes in length, unless user was not part of one of YouTube’s special partner programs.

Citi pays $75 million to SEC: another win or another failure for the economy?

Citi achieved the settlement with the US Securities and exchange Commission under which Citigroup Inc will pay $75 million. The settlement comes after the SEC’s probe into the Citi’s failure to disclose subprime exposure to investors in 2007.

Apart from this SEC also charged Citi executive and a former chief financial officer of misrepresenting the bank's exposure, although not with intentional misconduct.
