US satisfaction with Microsoft’s software reaches the highest level ever

A new national customer satisfaction survey revealed that Americans are now more satisfied with Microsoft’s software than ever. The poll conducted by American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), a consumer survey started by the University of Michigan, showed that Microsoft accumulated 79 points which is the three-point increase, a 7% gain, over 2009’ results.

Does Windows 7 make any difference for users compared to Vista?

Microsoft has seen an increase in customer satisfaction with its operating system. Windows 7 has proved to be more successful than its predecessor Vista. The American Customer Satisfaction Index showed that Windows 7 brings more satisfaction to PC users today.

"At the beginning of 2007, when Microsoft released Windows Vista, customer satisfaction plunged 4% to an ACSI score of 70, well below the industry average, where it remained for the next three years," reads the ASCI's commentary on the data.

Russia terminates investigation into Microsoft over Windows XP

On Monday the state anti-monopoly service of Russia, FAS, reported that it closed an investigation into Microsoft as it had found no violations of antitrust laws over cutbacks in supply of the Windows XP operating system. Earlier the agency launched a probe on suspicion that the software giant violates the law by cutting delivery of Windows XP to Russia both as a separate system and pre-installed on personal computers, as well as in its pricing policy on the product.

Vista Service Pack 2, last version of the infamous OS coming soon

As Microsoft said the launch of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 to the public will take place "in the coming weeks”.

According to the statement of Microsoft's Update Product Team in a Wednesday blog post Vista and Server 2008 SP2 will be available through the Download Center and through Windows Update and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
