The Western Union Company signed an agreement to purchase one of its leading money transfer network agents in Europe Finint S.r.l.

Finint covers over 10,000 locations across Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. At the moment Western Union owns 30% of the company and now it will buy the remaining 70%.

A provider of global payment services Western Union Company announced the rebranding of its international business payments service into Western Union Business Solutions.

Previously the service was offered under the Custom House name. Western Union acquired Custom House, which provides international business payments and foreign-exchange solutions to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), last year. With the rebranding of the service, Western Union will cease using the Custom House brand.

A global payment services provider Western Union has partnered with State Bank of India (SBI), the largest commercial bank in India, to allow SBI customers to receive cross-border money transfers in their bank accounts using just their mobile phones.

Earlier this year Western Union announced the introduction of the Account-Based Money Transfer (ABMT) service, to be launched in early 2011. This service will enable SBI customers with online bank accounts to pull a Western Union® Money TransferTM directly into their accounts via the Internet or an ATM.
