Walmart cuts prices for toys by up to 50% through the Christmas shopping season

 Last October, the world's biggest retailer cut its prices and began selling 10 popular toys for $10 each in its U.S. Walmart stores to win sales from early bargain hunting holiday shoppers.


This year, the retailer has ramped up the program and is offering more than 100 toys, including Barbie dolls and board games, for $10 each, throughout the Christmas shopping season.

GE Money Retail Consumer Finance, a consumer lending unit of General Electric Company, launched a multi-year renewal of the Walmart credit card program for Walmart stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, and on walmart.com.

While the whole continues to suffer the global financial crisis Chinese customers reveal increasing excitement in shopping online with foreign merchants. Since the introduction of online shopping channel in 2006 the commercial site Taobao reports a three digit increase in its transaction volume every year. Last month the average amount spent on the channel accounted for 10 million yuan which is about 4 times more than WalMart China's average daily intake in 2006.
