VoIP Inc is suing Google over stealing its trade secrets related to online voice technology. The lawsuit stems from a contract signed by companies in 2005, as it is stated in the complaint.
At that time VoIP's Los Angeles-based subsidiary, VoiceOne Communications Corp, agreed to provide Google with its patented "Click to Call" technology that allows Internet users to place a call to advertisers or merchants simply by clicking a link on a website. |

Google is testing a new phone service to allow users to make calls from Gmail. According to the reports from Cnet, Google is piloting a service that launches phone calls from Google Chat that is coupled with Gmail.
The new service lets users place and receive calls via a user interface that "strongly resembles" Google Voice. As reported by Cnet calls placed to US or Canadian numbers are free, with discounts on international calls. |

This week Skype reported in its official blog that it is planning a new version of its popular VoIP system which will include group video calling for up to 5 people.
"With the latest version, you'll be able to bring the whole family together for a chat, for lunch, or even a birthday," Skype wrote. "You'll be able to spend quality time with your best friends, planning a trip, or even hosting a book club. On Thursday Apple was holding its big iPhone OS 4.0 sneak peek event where the company announced 100 new features for the next version of the iPhone OS. At the event seven of the features were covered most of all.
While many users will like those functions added to the operating system still there is almost nothing applicable for business professionals. Among the trifle changes introduced there is a 5x digital zoom for the camera, a spell-check feature, customizable home and lock screen wallpaper (a feature already present in the iPad), and the ability to rotate photos. |

Skype, having over 500 million users worldwide, has questioned Egypt's intention to forbid international calls made through mobile Internet connections. The company also claims the necessity to left consumers an option.
Earlier this month Amr Badawy, National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority head, unveiled its plans to ban international calls through mobile Internet connections.
Egypt's ban follows the earlier in the month United Arab Emirates decision not to award VoIP licenses to international companies such as Skype. |

The Register referring to Disruptive Telephony has reported today that Skype will launch a new client tomorrow which intends only just for the users of Mac providing screen sharing, bigger avatars and Wi-Fi hotspot access to the ubiquitous VoIP service.
