Apple responds to the most pernicious attack on Mac machines

Apple provided its response to the new attack started by hackers on Mac computers, the most pernicious types of computer virus infecting Cupertino machines.

Apple has issued a security advisory to customers warning them about a recent scam that infects Macs with malicious software that wrongly tells them their computer is infected with a virus. Hackers are targeting Mac machines to obtain credit card numbers and other valuable personal information.

Iran alleges Siemens should be held responsible for Stuxnet attack

Siemens is being accused by Gholamreza Jalali, head of Iran's civilian defense, for helping the United States and Israel to launch a cyber attack on its nuclear facilities according to Kayhan daily report.

Jalali made a statement that German engineering company who provided Iran its control systems used to operate complicated factory machinery known as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) was partially responsible for that the Stuxnet was successful.

Manchester City Council failed to issue hundreds of motoring penalty notices in time after the infamous Conficker worm knocked out parts of its IT systems. 1,609 unissued tickets left the city £43,000 out of pocket. But in fact the sum is nothing when compared with the costs the city paid to recover and update its systems.

Small businesses in Britain need a cyber crime reporting body

The Federation of Small Businesses released a report that shows over 50% of small businesses fell prey to fraud or cyber crime within the last 12 months. The report also revealed that 37% encountered phishing emails, 15% were victims to card-not-present fraud and 15% were attacked by viruses and hackers’ break-in.
