Twitter launches its own photosharing service

Multiple sources report that Twitter is planning to launch its own built in Twitpic competitor. Observers believe that photosharing is a logical next step for Twitter’s expansion.

Recently Twitter spent $40 million on power user client Tweetdeck which represents 13% of its userbase.

It remains unknown what the photosharing URL shortener will look like if any and what the service Twitter for Photos itself will be.

Security software and URL filters do not see most of malicious destinations

An online security vendor M86 Security reported that many URL filters and antivirus applications fail to recognize a big volume of malicious URLs. The conclusions were made on the basis of the test performed by the company.

M86 Security used three leading but unnamed antivirus products against 15,000 malicious URLs and found that only 39% were blocked successfully.

Having screened the set of malicious URLs against a URL filter the company found that only 444, about 3%, were correctly detected.

Kaspersky breached by a simple device

Last week Kaspersky was breached by a hacker that exploited a security lapse at the official site of the antivirus company. According to the Register the hacker posted a blog entry where he claimed a simple SQL injection gave access to a database containing "users, activation codes, lists of bugs, admins, shop, etc." Thus, a large base of proprietary information about the anti-virus provider's products and customers was exposed.
