Japan's SBI Sumishin Net Bank chooses TSYS to operate its payment card portfolio

As it became known Tuesday, TSYS was selected by one of the Japanese leading internet-based banks, SBI Sumishin Net Bank (SSNB), in order to process its payment card portfolio. This conversion is due in April.

SSNB has over 750,000 accounts and plans to use its partnership with TSYS as a means to aggressively expand its card business.

TSYS purchases 10th largest merchant acquirer in North America

TSYS is purchasing a controlling interest in First National Merchant Solutions for $150.5 million. TSYS will run the business in a joint venture partnership with First National Bank of Omaha.

FNMS ranked as the 10th largest merchant acquirer in North America has been in the industry for 57 years with over 300,000 merchant outlets in its portfolio.

The agreement stipulates that TSYS is acquiring 51% ownership of FNMS for approximately $150.5 million, while FNBO will control the remaining 49%. The transaction is expected to close 1 April, 2010.

Tsys makes agreement for over multi-year payment services

Thursday Tsys announced it completed a multi-year payment services agreement with Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation.


In compliance with the terms of the agreement, TSYS' industry leading TS2 platform will be used to process commercial credit accounts.


The contract also contains TSYS CounterPASS, a Web-based virtual point-of-sale product, internet-based reporting, statement and customer care services to support more than 900 Caterpillar dealer locations in the US.

TSYS was chosen by Degussa Bank for card processing in Germany

TSYS has entered into a multi-year payment services agreement with Degussa Bank of Germany to provide a broad range of products and services for its corporate and business clients.

Degussa Bank selected TSYS’ highly specialised TS2® commercial card platform and other proprietary card management tools after thorough evaluation process that included both global and German-market processors.

The conversion is planned for the first half of 2010 and will further expand TSYS’ presence within the German market.

 Three weeks before delivering its earnings report for the third quarter of 2009, credit-card processor TSYS confirmed Monday it has sold one subsidiary and folded another into a third operation.


The company also acknowledged it is working to hold the line on personnel expenses.
