Consumers make more payments than purchases on their credit cards

According to a new TransUnion analysis consumers made about $72 billion more in payments on their credit cards than on purchases within the period of first quarters of 2009 and 2010.

People’s credit card bills paying capacity increased in third quarter

For the first time in a decade, more people paid their credit card bills on time in the third quarter this year than in the second quarter.

The delinquency rate on bank-issued cards like those bearing MasterCard logos fell to 1.1 percent for the June-to-September period, from a rate of 1.17 percent in the prior three months, according to credit reporting agency TransUnion.

Nevada has the highest credit card delinquency

The report issued by TransUnion shows that Nevada has the highest credit card delinquency, Credit card delinquency can be defined as “the ratio of borrowers 90 or more days past due.”

Available data proves delinquency in the more recent period was highest in Nevada (1.74 percent). Mississippi (1.53) and Florida (1.51) were next in the row.
