NBC, Time Warner, Amazon and other bring content to Google

A number of partnership agreements were signed by Google with media and internet companies, including NBC Universal's CNBC, Time Warner's HBO and Amazon, for its proposed Google TV service.

According to reports Turner Broadcasting is working to optimize some of its websites for viewing on Google TV, including CNN and Cartoon Network. Meantime, NBC Universal will bring access to financial news television CNBC, while HBO will also provide programing.

According to the latest reports Amazon.com Inc is in talks with several media companies to launch a subscription service that gives users unlimited access to some television shows and movies over the Internet, a move that could rival Netflix Inc. The report came from the sources with the knowledge of the situation.

Amazon has approached media companies including Time Warner Inc, CBS Corp and Viacom Inc, these people say. It remains uncertain whether the media companies would agree to Amazon's proposals which are still at an early stage.

AOL, the weakest unit of Time Warner, can now separate

As Reuters reported, on Thursday Time Warner’s bondholders had agreed to change the conditions of their debt contracts. That means that the restrictions on a sale or spin-off of its Internet unit AOL will be removed. Time Warner's portfolio includes HBO, Warner Bros film studios and the Time publishing unit.

AOL seeks court’s support over a dispute with Yahoo

A federal court was asked by Time Warner Inc's AOL to rule that the company does not infringe patents held by Yahoo Inc. The request was submitted to the court in the form of a complaint seeking declaratory relief.

The filing cites the intellectual property dispute between Yahoo and Quigo, an online advertising company that AOL acquired for $340 million in 2007. According to the complaint AOL and Quigo were informed in the letters sent by attorneys for Yahoo that the company’s seven patens were infringed.
