eBay takes a large mobile market through a deal with Telefonica

eBay is expanding its mobile reach in Europe through a deal with Telefonica which will equip the ecommerce giant with most smartphones and feature phones sold by the Telefonica via its O2 brand with eBay’s mobile app or a link to eBay’s mobile page pre-loaded.

The agreement includes most Android, Windows 7, Symbian and Bada devices sold by O2 in the UK over the next two years. Telefonica will actually work with device manufacturers to pre-install the application.

MasterCard and Telefónica form a mobile payment business

MasterCard and telco giant Telefónica have conjointly formed a joint venture to provide mobile phone-based financial services to 12 Latin American countries.

The new 50/50 JV will be managed independently, according to the official statement. The company will deploy both MasterCard’s and Telefónica’s existing banking relationships to bring services to customers of Telefónica's Movistar brand.

Online payment solution Ukash has announced about the extended partnership with Spanish partner Telepay which enabled the online payment gateway to issue Ukash vouchers online.  The consumer site Cuponesprepago.com has become the first site in Spain to offer Ukash vouchers online.
 
Users can obtain Ukash vouchers in fixed denominations of €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 or €500 which they can choose to buy via bank transfer from all Spain’s major banks.

Vodafone and O2 to share European networks

Vodafone and Telefonica, also known as O2 in the UK, have announced their partnership, aimed at saving finances and improving the quality of the service provided.

The companies said they will be sharing networks in Germany, Spain, Ireland and the UK. Companies said they will be sharing existing 2G and 3G sites and masts for microwave backhaul in Germany. In Ireland they aim at opening all sites and working together on new sites.

Ukash payment processor has announced its partnership with Spanish Telefónica company owing to which the customers will buy vouchers any time they need in 70,000 telephone kiosks countrywide.

To buy digital cash at the phone kiosks, users follow the prompts on screen and deposit coins for the voucher's value. Customers then receive a unique 19-digit code via SMS text message, which can be used to buy goods and services online.
