IBM is investigated by EU over mainframe monopoly: Microsoft behind the scenes?

Two anti-trust investigations have been launched against the International Business Machines Corp by European Union on allegations IBM is abusing its dominant position in the mainframe computer market. One investigation was launched after complaints filed by emulator software vendors T3 and TurboHercules against IBM's practices. This probe focuses on IBM’s alleged tying of mainframe hardware to its mainframe operating system.

EU investigates into IBM for an antitrust case

A full investigation will be conducted by the Competition Commission in the European Union into IBM’s mainframe business. A rival company t3 Technologies filed a complaint against IBM alleging that the electronics and software giant abused its market position and prevented other competitors to create solutions interoperable with IBM’s products.
