$US58.8b scratched up by the World Bank to help nations wrestle with the crisis

As it became known, The World Bank announced it allotted a record $US58.8 billion as a bailout in the fiscal year just ended as it scrambled in a move to support countries cope with the global economic crisis.

The World Bank said yesterday, that the results of end of the 2009 fiscal year, ended June 30, reflected a 54% growth over the previous year and "a record high" for the global development institution.

No more free support for Windows XP

Starting next week Microsoft will cease providing free support for a number of its products viewed as “old”, reports the Register. Among these there are consumer versions of Windows XP and Office 2003.

Termination of support for Office 2003 along with Windows XP Home and Professional is scheduled for April 14. Starting that day the software will no longer include no-charge incident support, warranty claims, design changes, and bug fixes not related to security.
