Spotify, Swedish music streaming service, has boosted about having 320,000 premium users.


Spotify is currently available in six European countries including the UK and has around 7 million users, with 320,000 paying the £10 per month subscription fee.

Spotify is now accessible on Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung mobile phones

 A prominent music streaming service Spotify announced extension of its mobile reach with the release of an application that allows Symbian based mobile phones to access it. Earlier the service launched apps for iPhone and Android users and now Nokia, along with Sony Ericsson and Samsung cell phone users will also be able to enjoy music access.

Phones powered by Symbian far outstrip the iPhone and Android (for now) in Europe where Spotify is currently available.

New online music downloads service Sky Songs will rival iTunes

 Starting next week BSkyB, a British media group, will launch its new digital music service Sky Songs to rival Apple's iTunes and Spotify in the music downloads market.

The company stated on Sunday its service scheduled for the launch on October 19 would allow users to access more than four million tracks for download and ad-free streaming.

Spotify is  taking on Apple’s iTune with offline mode

Spotify is now challenging iTunes as a rival for consumers’ digital music library. The company plans to offer its subscribers offline mode enabling to 'dial an album' to listen to even on the way home with no extra charge. That's something Apple can't currently match.

 The main difference is in no featuring Spotify with CD burning. However, all the music is in a DRM encrypted format, so user can easily lose it when he is leaving.

Online radio Spotify launches an app for iPhones and Android smartphones

The much-hyped European digital music service Spotify said on Monday that it has secured a deal to launch a mobile offering on Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch and phones using the Android platform. Sweden's Spotify said a mobile application was now available for its premium subscribers in the UK, Sweden, Spain, France and Norway on the three devices, and in Finland for owners of the iPhone and iPod Touch.

“iTunes killer”  Spotify  launches its iPhone service

Spotify, the Swedish music streaming service that has been known as “iTunes killer” because of its ease of use and its comprehensive, free library of millions of songs, unveiled its plans to implement its first mobile application.

Spotify has already submitted the application to Apple's iTunes App Store for the approval. If approved, the service will be available for users to download onto iPhones. Customers will also be enabled to stream playlists.
