News Corp's MySpace officially announced its agreement to buy music recommendation service iLike. The acquisition comes as News Corp owner Rupert Murdoch has pressed to reinvent MySpace as an entertainment portal, taking advantage of its continued strength in areas like music and movies. MySpace declined to disclose financial terms of the acquisition that brings iLike's twin brother founders Ali and Hadi Partovi and Nat Brown into the MySpace fold.

On Monday five Facebook users filed a lawsuit against the social networking site claiming that it violated California state laws that protect consumer privacy, reports the MSNBC. The filing demands a jury trial and seeks damages and attorney's fees. At the focus of the case are concerns over Facebook’s privacy policy, which the site is in the process of addressing. Many users today are doubting if Facebook owns user's information posted on profile pages.

Social networking site Facebook has announced that it began testing its much-anticipated virtual currency payments system with third party application GroupCard. Users who want to buy a GroupCard e-card through the company's app are now offered the option of clicking on a "Pay with Facebook" button. They then pay with their credits, worth 10 cents each.

As it became known on Monday, Yahoo! is to close down social networking site, Yahoo! 360, next month, on July 13, following the shuttering of Yahoo! 360 services aimed at college graduates and Mash, two other networking efforts set up in 2007 and then closed very soon. So, by July 12, 2009 users will be asked to move into new profile on Yahoo!, that means users will need to get cracking moving blog and other content across.

Facebook has been blamed by attorney Brian Cuban for letting some Holocaust denial groups maintain shop on the site. Cuban has launched a public campaign for shutting down such groups as "Holocaust: A Series of Lies" and "Holocaust is a Holohoax".

It should also be reminded that about a week ago the social networking site had removed a page promoting KKK membership on the Isle of Man.

Although, Twitter grew 131 percent in March 2009, reports .comScore, the studies showed that a lot of people visit Twitter a few times and never come back. Mainly this is because the site fails in fulfilling its purpose. Twitter is designed to be a conversational tool. However, it is difficult to have conversations when you just join, and don't have any followers.
