Google traffic on iPhone is over 50%

According to a recent report from Chitika Research the presence of Google on the iPhones is more significant than it is thought to be. Chitika says that Google searches alone reach over 50% of all Internet traffic from mobile device running the iPhone OS. Thus Google outstrips all other traffic, including other search sites and all visits to Websites in the phone's browser.

The report also reveals that across the Internet as a whole--not just iPhone or mobile Internet--Google search makes up nearly 31% of all the traffic.

Mary Landesman with real-time malware scanning specialist ScanSafe tracking the attacks since March reported that a number of websites identified as infected have almost tripled. Cybercrooks behind malware attacks set up websites that appear in a search result listing at Google and after the user visits such a malicious destination his/her computer gets infected with an application that tracks their Google search results.

Yahoo! launches mobile NCAA tournament site

Yahoo! announced the launch of a new mobile sports website designed specially for the men's NCAA basketball tournament. Jimmy Pitaro from Yahoo! Sports told eMarketer that the company is targeting younger consumers and females as part of its online strategy.
The website includes special tools that enable users to follow the games of their favourite teams directly from mobile devices. Moreover, the fans can track their brackets and the progress of others in their group.

On Tuesday Google reported that over 15,600 employees exchanged options to buy roughly 7.6 million company shares under the unusual program launched to retain the Internet giant's top talent even as its share price is sliding down. Earlier in January Google announced that it would allow employees with stock options that have lost value thanks to the company's falling share price to substitute them for new options with a lower strike price.

70% of users accessed Internet search through their mobile phones

The survey conducted by ABI Research in 2007 and 2008 had found out that 70% of respondents used their mobile phones to search for information on Internet search engines in 2008, which exceeds the proportion in 2007 by 14%. 

More than 1000 mobile phone users in the United States aged 14-59 from a wide range of demographic profiles had participated in both surveys, aimed at finding out the users’ preferences of a variety of mobile email and web usage. They were held in November of 2007 and December of 2008.

Chinese media report that Google is planning to enter China’s ecommerce market with the purchase of a domain to be used as a C2C platform. Google reportedly bought the domain Baobei.com for $1 million and is expected to go live with the C2C site within the next few months.
