Thomas Friedman, foreign affairs columnist at The New York Times, talking to the CNBC noted that the United States has "lost its leverage" in the world because of its dependence on the Middle East and China.

“Our challenge right now is that we have to cut here in order to invest there—That is the discussion we should be having,” Friedman told CNBC in a live interview. “We need a strategy to make America great again.”

Saudi Alinma Bank preparing to launch soon

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia final preparations are being made by Alinma Bank for its launch by the end of the second quarter of 2009. As reported by Abdulaziz Al-Zamil, chairman of the board of directors of the bank, at the launch the bank will operate branches in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Jubail, Hofuf, Madinah, Taif and Khamis Mushayt. This statement was made by Ibrahim Al-Assaf, Minister of Finance, after his inspection tour of the Haj terminal in King Abdul Aziz Airport here late Sunday night.
