Online shopping in China requires effective supervision

The Internet research organization iResearch conducted the report indicating that China's online shopping market recorded a turnover of 120 billion yuan in 2008, up 128.5 % year-on-year. China's leading e-commerce website Taobao.com sold an average of 26 cell phones, 266 items of clothing and 136 cosmetic products per minute in 2008.

95% kids in the EU have mobile phones

The European Commission unveiled an interesting fact: half of 10 year old kids in the EU own mobile phones. This figure reaches 95% concerning all the kids under 16 years old. However parents are still anxious that their children are not protected enough.  

So, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland and Luxembourg don’t have "voluntary" agreements requiring operators to control access to adult-orientated material. In those countries only 41% of operators worry whether those measures are working.

TRUSTe research: 56% of small businesses’ web sites don’t have privacy policy

The recent survey, conducted by TRUSTe, found that 56% of small business owners having web sites admitted they don’t have privacy policy on their web site. One third of them cut and pasted their privacy policy from somewhere else and one quarter wrote it by themselves. However that can lead to brand risk that may deflect from local laws.

WebMoney to fight children’s porno with Microsoft

Last week Russian payment processing service WebMoney Transfer service announced that the company joined the Children’s Coalition on Internet Safety that was initiated by the Microsoft Ukraine. The partnership was established under the project “Cooperation in the education”.
