Research In Motion (RIM) has ambitious plans for the next year when it plans to rival Apple’s iPad with its own tablet computer PlayBook. The slate device will cost "under" $500. However, many observers are skeptical about any serious competition.
While Apple iPad starts at $499 for a 16GB Wi-Fi-only model, and goes up to $829 for the 64GB Wi-Fi+3G version, a RIM executive said that the PlayBook will be cheaper than the iPad, when the tablets starts shipping in North America sometime in the first quarter of 2011. |
