On Wednesday the CEO of eBay said that a price of $2 billion for Skype would be low. As it was announced earlier San Jose-based eBay is going to spin off its internet phone call company through the initial public offering by the first half of 2010. The analysts’ estimates showed that Skype could fetch $2 billion, compared with the $2.6 billion which eBay paid for it in 2005.

According to TSYS announcement, it has signed a multi-year contract with Banco Carrefour S.A., to process their business in Brazil. TSYS is one of the world's largest companies for outsourced payment services. As a first step of the agreement a new MasterCard hybrid card will be launched in June 2009. This card may be used as a private label card when used in Carrefour store, but it is also may be used as a general purpose credit card when used outside of Carrefour stores.

TSYS Acquiring Solutions has announced the start of its partnership with mPay Gateway and Nova Libra, aimed at providing point-of-sale payment solutions for healthcare providers, their patients, pharmacies and drug stores.
mPay Gateway’s point-of-sale solution, allows calculation and collection of patient’s service fees while he is still in the doctors’ office. Consequently, it helps to avoid costs related to fees collection and writing off uncollectible patient accounts.

comScore reported on Thursday that retail e-commerce sales dropped in Q4 by 3 percent, as the dismal economy began to affect the online retail sector. Q4 of 2008 was the first quarter of negative growth since it started tracking spending in 2001 – this drop comes after the double digit gains throughout 2007 and the first half of 2008 in year-to-year ecommerce sales.
