MoneyGram International unveiled two new agents in US

MoneyGram International announced it has added two new agents this year to its agent network. Now Friendly Check and RiteCheck are also offering international money transfer and bill payment services under the brand of MoneyGram.

Friendly Check based in North Carolina started offering MoneyGram services May 16. This adds 45 more locations across North Carolina and Virginia. The agent offers MoneyGram Express Payment and Utility Bill Payment products in addition to money transfers.

MoneyGram introduces in-lane prepaid money transfer

MoneyGram International, a know money remittance service, has partnered Ceridian Stored Value Solutions (Ceridian SVS), a premier provider of global prepaid services. Under the agreement Ceridian SVS will help MoneyGram to offer an in-lane prepaid money transfer product enabling customers to transfer money to 40 countries around the world including the largest one. This broad reaching agreement is a first for the money transfer industry. 

According to MoneyGram the new service will be offered in various denominations in local currency.

 A provider of global money transfer services MoneyGram International announced its partnership with Poste Italiane, the leading postal services operator in Italy, to enable Poste Italiane customers to initiate mobile money transfers across the globe. Besides, under the partnership of the two companies customers will also be able to initiate money transfers online.

Western Union purchases FEXCO unit for US$159.5 million

Western Union will be able to manage more than 10,000 consumer-facing locations in seven European countries and provide direct training, marketing and operations support due to the new acquisition agreement signed recently with the European-based money transfer service FEXCO which was one of the company's largest Agents. The transaction is expected to close during the first half of 2009 and is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
