Qualcomm joins with ZTE in efforts to enhance UMTS System Performance

Qualcomm Incorporated and ZTE Corporation declared their collaboration to significantly boost the capacity and performance of UMTS systems with the integration of Qualcomm's Uplink Interference Cancellation technology into ZTE's next-generation UMTS base station products. This technology enables operators to increase their UMTS data throughput by up to 60 percent and deliver a user experience that is comparable to LTE in a similar channel bandwidth. Besides, with the technology, UMTS operators can increase voice capacity by up to 45 percent.

Qualcomm Incorporated and Beijing Tianyu Communications Equipment Co., Ltd. (Tianyu) announced that they have entered a subscriber unit and modem card/module license agreement.
