Two opposition bloggers sentenced in Azerbaijan

A court in Azerbaijan sentenced two opposition bloggers to jail terms Wednesday in a case that has stirred international concern over freedom of expression in the oil-producing Caspian Sea state.

Adnan Hajizade, 26, was sentenced to two years in prison and Emin Milli, 30, to two years and six months over an incident in a cafe in Baku, a member of their defense team told Reuters.

First botnet creator will be released from imprisonment

It was announced that a hacker, who confessed he had created one of the world's first botnets won't spend any time in prison, as he provided assistance to prosecutors.

Jason Michael Milmont, 20, was sentenced to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine, as he admitted to have created the Nugache Worm that generated one of the first botnets, according to security researcher Dave Dittrich.

On Friday Swedish court pronounced its judgment in the Pirate Bay case. The four defendants were found guilty of violating copyright laws. The verdict was handed down to four men behind BitTorrent tracker site this morning in a court in Stockholm.

"The Stockholm district court has today found guilty the four individuals that were charged with accessory to breaching copyright laws," the court said in a statement. "The court has sentenced each of them to one year in prison."

Stock-trading Trojan creator Van T. Dinh is accused of hacking again

As The Register reports, Van T. Dinh, 25, who had previously been imprisoned for the creation in 2004 a Trojan horse program that posed as a stock-tracking tool while working as a 19 year-old stock trader, is back in trouble with the law.

As it’s known, in 2004 he was jailed for 13 months after he was convicted of hacking into an account run by a fellow stock trader to buy a variety of worthless stock derivatives he had got stuck with the year before.

150 years in prison. This is a sentence Bernard Madoff, 70, 4 faces per 11 felony charges including securities fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, and perjury. While it may seem something in the nature of a sensation but actually there is nothing amazing in the case. Surely, it would be rather funny if it were not so sad.

According to the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida he is charged in connection with a multimillion-dollar scheme that aimed to misappropriate funds from customer accounts. 

Ricardo Figuerado surrendered to authorities on Thursday morning.

Madoff investigation is in full swing

New York state's top legal officer said his office was investigating frauds related to charities caught up in the scandal of Bernard Madoff.

Andrew Cuomo,New York Attorney General, said "I don't want to comment on who we are investigating or not by name." He added, the probe was "not looking at Mr. Madoff" himself at this time.
