Sony rolls out an updated firmware for PlayStation 3

Sony released its latest version of PlayStation 3 firmware. The new 3.42 release features a "patch... added to address security vulnerability in the system software".

Those users who fear that the new system software will indeed prevent the USB dongle may just discard the update. But in this case they won’t ever access PlayStation Network.

Hulu on-demand TV content comes to Sony PlayStation 3

Sony Corp is holding negotiations with Hulu LLC over making a paid TV service from Hulu a part of Sony PlayStation game pack, as reported by Bloomberg, who cited sources with the knowledge of the matter. The deal could be announced next week, says the paper.

Thereby, users of Sony PlayStation 3 game console who are registered on the console website will be able to sign up for Hulu pay service to have on-demand access to current prime-time television shows, according to the report.

Sony launches its Torne DVR and TV tuner for PS3 in March

Sony confirmed its plans to launch Torne DVR and TV tuner for the PlayStation 3 console as early as next month. On the initial state the launch will start only in Japan, mainly because the unit supports the country's terrestrial digital broadcasts.

The Torne connects via USB and can record TV onto the hard drive of the console or up to four external hard drives simultaneously.

Players will be able to connect up to eight USB drives and register each one with the recorder.

Sony will unveil its 3D cylindrical display at a Tokyo expo

 At the Digital Contents Expo in Tokyo Sony is planning to present its new prototype 3D display that can be seen through 360 degrees without the need to wear special glasses. There are only scarce information about the new Sony’s invention but it is known that it will appear on Thursday at the expo and will have cylindrical shape so it can be viewed from all sides and is 13 centimeters in diameter. The length of the display and its case is 27 cm.

Nielsen Games states that gamers are looking a lot more feminine nowadays.

It used to be that the stereotype of a gamer was: male, ages 12 to 17 with annual household income of $70,000 or more, mostly playing PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. 

However, times have changed. Gaming became very popular among older players, and other demographic groups, including women.
