With the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) increasing the cap on mobile banking to Rs 50,000 a day, more than 50 per cent of account holders are expected to come under this platform in the next five years, a leading service provider said.
"The recent hike in the limit of mobile banking transactions by the Reserve Bank will be a boost for the industry and will bring more than 50 per cent of Indian bank account holders under the ambit of this platform by 2015," mobile payment service provider PayMate Managing Director Ajay Adiseshann told. |

mChek, a mobile payment services provider, closed its series-B round of funding, with Nexus India Capital who will inject between $5-8 million into the company. VC firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson, which invested in the company in the first round in 2006, has also participated.
Main competitors of mCheck at the market are One97, Obopay, and Paymate who are creating their niche in the ecosystem and tying up with banks and operators in a race to build up their offerings.

Paymate, an innovative provider of Internet payment services, announced today that Mr. Garrett Gafke has been named Chief Executive Officer. Gafke, who was appointed to Paymate's Board of Directors in January 2009, succeeds Mr. Dilip Rao, Paymate's founder and founding Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Rao was named President. The new executive appointments are effective immediately.

A survey conducted by AC Nielsen showed that 96 per cent of men use mobile payment solutions to settle their utility bills.
However, Probir Roy, founder and director of PayMate, a mobile payment solution service provider, expects females to “catch up” on the matter. “I think these are early days and early results. A lot of people are not aware of mobile payment solutions,” said he.

Mashreq has announced it was partnering with PayMate, in order to launch mobile payments in the UAE.
It is forecasted that the payments will include paying for over-the-counter shopping, utility bills, online purchases through mobile phones, as well as mobile applications for purchasing movie and flight tickets. The service is to become the first-of-its-kind mobile payment service in the country.

The MobileStore, an Indian telecom retailer and a part of the Essar Group, entered in partnership with PayMate, a mobile commerce company, is implementing POS services across its chain of 1,300 stores in more than 200 cities in India. With the new service customers will be ale to make payments for the items purchased as well as top up, buy or send gift vouchers via their mobile phones. |

Australian online payment system has announced today a simple, low-cost fee structure for it's US Payment Services, to be launched on 26 February, 2009. According to the online payment processor it has been selected by online marketplace eBay as one of the tree outside payment options available on ebay.com. PayMate will join such known online payment gateways as ProPay which entered into agreement with online auction last year and Moneybookers that became available on the site earlier this month.

eBay announced about updates it is introducing into its selling policy. In the company post Dinesh Lathi, Vice President, Seller Experience, said that eBay is changing feedback rules to remove negative comments left by customers towards the sellers because they wouldn’t mark an item as “gift” in order to sidestep customs fees. In addition eBay also is introducing two more third party payment processors to integrate on its auction.

IDBI Bank has signed an agreement with PayMate mobile payment system to enable Mobile Payments facility for its multimillion customers. Owing to that partnership the customers of IDBI Bank customers can pay for their movie and flight tickets, restaurant bills, mobile recharge, online purchase and retail shopping at over 13,000 merchants in India registered with PayMate.
