Google leads online search market, what about mobile?

According to the latest statistics provided by Opera the search engine market in the mobile sector is also dominated by Google as it is the case in the PC sector as Google has a significant lead over its rivals while its competitors hardly can be confronted to it.

Opera State of the Mobile Report shows that Google's search portal accounts "for more than 9% of all page views on the mobile Web." Meantime Yahoo only shares 4.3% of page views with Microsoft having miserable 0.03%.

Google traffic on iPhone is over 50%

According to a recent report from Chitika Research the presence of Google on the iPhones is more significant than it is thought to be. Chitika says that Google searches alone reach over 50% of all Internet traffic from mobile device running the iPhone OS. Thus Google outstrips all other traffic, including other search sites and all visits to Websites in the phone's browser.

The report also reveals that across the Internet as a whole--not just iPhone or mobile Internet--Google search makes up nearly 31% of all the traffic.

On Sunday ex-chief of Google China reported that the national government approved of its decision to filter porn from search results on its China portal following state-led criticism of the links. Kai-Fu Lee, former president of Greater China for Google, wrote on a Chinese blog that the argument with Beijing cooled down in July, after government censors met with Google and revoked a suspension of some features on its site.

The Pew Internet and American Life Project showed that the group which had the largest increase in adoption of Internet usage in 2005 – 2008 was of those 70 and older. Internet penetration of people aged 70 - 74 increased by 19 percent during the period, of 75 and older the increase made 10 percent. On the other hand, the amount of users of ages 25 - 29 has remained steady at 85%.

71% of Americans found Internet to be productive for them

The USC Annenberg School Center for the Digital Future released the results of the study that found a major part of U.S. online users admitted that the Internet helped them to become more productive. From 2000 to 2007 the number of users who believed in Internet productivity constantly increased with 57% of online surfers who said the Internet had improved their productivity “a lot” or “somewhat” in 2000 and 71% in 2007.

According to Sunday Time’s information the proposal under discussion involves a complex transaction that would see the Microsoft support a new management team to take control of Yahoo.
