 According to Bloomberg, Facebook Inc. is tapping virtual farmers, mafia dons and online pets to generate cash from the social-networking Web site’s 300 million users. The company is testing a payment system to gain a cut each time an online-game player buys any gadget for the game.

Zong, a payment service for publishers of online games and other digital content, announced this week that its mobile transaction platform has processed mobile payments for 10 million unique users to date in 2009. Besides, Zong also announced the addition of new carrier partners in Eastern Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia and South America. At the moment Zong covers 30 countries.

Online games that popularize mafia banned in China

According to the official Xinhua news agency, China has enjoined websites featuring or publicizing online games which glamorize mafia gangs, saying violators will be "severely punished." The Culture Ministry said such games "advocate obscenity, gambling, or violence," and "undermine morality and Chinese traditional culture."

Starting 2010 online games in China are too under jurisdiction of government

As it became known Wednesday from the General Administration of Press and Publication, next year China intends to launch a five year program "China Green Online Games Publishing Program” supporting clean online games.

Earlier this week, GAPP published a notice cautioning against the illegal release of online games. GAPP also claimed to carry out stronger control over the approval process. The notice criticized pornographic and violent games producing some companies on the Internet.

CryptoLogic has entered into a deal with Paramount Digital Entertainment, stated SlotsGeek.com. The partnership will result in further development of online casino games, and the participation of CryptoLogic in the process.
