World Emergency Relief launches affinity debit card powered by Tempo

Tempo announced today that the World Emergency Relief (WER), the non-profit organization that provides food, medical supplies and support to victims of natural and man-made disasters, is offering members and contributors an affinity debit card powered by Tempo.
Every time WER debit cards are used to make a purchase, the organization will receive a portion of standard card transaction fees. The cards can be used anywhere Debit MasterCard cards are accepted and also provide cash-back and ATM withdrawal access to the cardholders' existing checking accounts.

The Network Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA) supporting the growth and success of network branded prepaid cards, is now offering branded prepaid cards for the millions of college students in a move to manage personal spending as an increasingly important priority. Thus, starting this fall the cards with an American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa logo will appear, as excellent financial tools for budgeting, safe spending and the avoidance of debt.

Revenue and Customs is denying tax privileges that go with charity status to Wiki UK Ltd., or Wikimedia UK. Thus UK tax man denies Wikipedia UK charity status. 

As Wikipedia claims to be "disseminating knowledge", Wiki UK requested the operating company should obtain charitable tax perks. The company is aiming to aid and encourage people to collect, develop and effectively disseminate knowledge and other educational, cultural and historic content in the public domain or under a license that allows everyone to freely use, distribute and modify content.

Western Union increased its grants through its Our World, Our Family program to $9.1 Million. It is a sixty seven percent increase compared to its commitment last year.

Our World, Our Family program is a global citizenship initiative conducted by Western Union focuses on providing families education and economic opportunity programs that assist them in removing barriers and fulfill their dreams.

Global meltdown forcing Google to waive its generosity

Non-profit organizations accepting donations via Google Checkout will now be charged processing fees starting from the early March. Previously non-profits were able to use the service for free. Still, those non-profits who are also members of Google Grants program will be eligible for free donation processing which will be extended for another year, until 2010.
