A US judge declines to dismiss a class action lawsuit against Motorola

Motorola Solutions Inc was declined to dismiss a class action lawsuit filed against the company over allegations that it misled its shareholders about deteriorating prospects for its cellphone business, resulting in investment losses.

On Monday, US District Judge Amy St. Eve in Chicago ruled there is a "genuine dispute" as to whether predecessor company Motorola Inc in 2006 and early 2007 hid key information about its ability to compete with such rivals as Nokia Oyj and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd.

Motorola Photon 4G features NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip with 1 GHz, a 4.3” 540x960 screen and 8 megapixel front camera with 720p video recording. Besides, the device is equipped with 16 GB built-in storage, 1 GB RAM and a SD slot for up to 32 GB cards.

Motorola launches a netbook-powering Android smartphone, the Atrix which will run exclusively on Orange network.

A 1GHz dual-core handset the Atrix comes with 1GB of Ram and 16GB of on-board Flash storage.
The smartphone can power a netbook-like shell, available separately. The netbook, called Lapdock, 11.6in screen, keyboard and battery. The Atrix connects through a built-in dock, providing the unit's memory, storage and processing power. This offers access to a dedicated desktop-style UI, Firefox browser and QuickOffice suite.

Consumer named Verizon the mobile network of the year for the second consecutive year according to the stats given by Harris Interactive.

Motorola Mobility Holdings makes a dull forecast for its sales in this quarter impacted by the next Apple iPhone that comes with Verizon Wireless. The company expects unusual drop and has already already noticed a decline in smartphone sales, Chief Executive Sanjay Jha said on Wednesday.

Motorola first-quarter phone sales typically fall 7 percent to 10 percent from the fourth quarter shopping season.

According to the data from research firm Canalys this year brought a tremendous growth for Android smartphones with the sales up 1,309% on a year over year basis.

"With Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson all delivering large numbers of Android devices, and with focused efforts from many other vendors, such as LG, Huawei and Acer, yielding promising volumes, the platform continues to gather momentum in markets around the world," Canalys analyst Pete Cunningham said in a report.

Apple is suing Motorola over three patents infringement caused by the Droid smartphone maker. The Cupertino company says Motorola is purposefully using its touchscreen software, as well as other display technologies.

"Motorola's infringing activities have caused and will continue to cause Apple irreparable harm, for which it has no adequate remedy at law, unless Motorola's infringing activities are enjoined," Apple said in a nine-page filing on Friday with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.
