Consumers name Verizon the Brand of the Year

Consumer named Verizon the mobile network of the year for the second consecutive year according to the stats given by Harris Interactive.

“Since the change in the portability of phone numbers, switching mobile phones and mobile networks is significantly easier,” said Jeni Lee Chapman, Executive Vice President of Brand and Communications Consulting with Harris Interactive.

“Verizon’s strong brand equity can have a large impact when consumers have a choice.”

Vodafone and Hutchison to create No. 3 network in Australia

Australian mobile users will soon see the launch of the joint-venture network to be known as VHA Pty Ltd. The network is meant to take the 3d place after market leader Telstra Corp. and No. 2 operator Optus, a unit of Singapore Telecommunications. The new company is being created by the combined resources of Vodafone, the world's largest wireless carrier, and Hutchison Telecommunications, controlled by Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing.
