In line with its course to become the world’s leading digital bank Citibank announced the launch of a dedicated consumer banking app for iPad.

Wells Fargo is encouraging its student customers to take care of the security of their personal and financial information to minimize the risks of fraud and identity theft.

According to the stats by Javelin Strategy & Research (2010) people aged 18 to 24 detect fraud in twice as many days as other age groups, which makes them fraud victims for longer periods.

Fiserv Inc announced that it now serves over 375 financial institutions with its Mobile Money mobile banking and payments solution. The company says that about 200 of these banks and credit unions are already live on the service, a double growth over the past 12 months. Number of consumers using the service increased by 600% within the past 6 months.

Monitise, a mobile money outfit, launched a new research and development technology center in South Wales that will initially create 40 new jobs. The new center will be focusing on the development and testing of mobile banking, payments and commerce services.

Monitise says it chose Wales because of the expertise within local universities including the University of Glamorgan's Centre of Excellence in Mobile Applications and Services, which already works with a number of key players in the mobile industry.

A digital security solutions provider Gemalto has partnered with Zimbabwe’s network operator NetOne to enable underbanked consumers to initiate mobile money transfers. NetOne will deploy Gemalto’s LinqUs solution for Mobile Money Transfer, which comprises of the server, user application, as well as system integration services.

The offering titled as the OneWallet service, works on 100% of the handsets and will enable all NetOne subscribers to perform secure and convenient money transfer using their mobile phone.

Barclaycard is launching a new mobile banking service as a part of their online servicing platform mybarclaycard.

With the new offering which can be accessed across different mobile phone models Barclaycard customers cab log into their accounts, check their balance and view payment or transaction history at any time by simply accessing the site through their mobile browser. Besides, the site integrates with the Barclaycard Freedom loyalty scheme to provide access to the latest offers from nearby retailers, using the latest geo-location technology.

ClairMail, Inc. has announced launch of its new mobile fraud management solution allowing customers to oversee and quickly respond to fraudulent transactions directly through the mobile channel.

Nokia Siemens Networks is teaming up with MoreMagic Solutions for mobile commerce and financial services. Their jointly designed Mobile Payment Solution enables the delivery of a wide range of services including money transfer, mobile banking, mobile payments and near field communication (NFC) proximity payments.

Chase entered into a strategic agreement with Mitek Systems, Inc., a developer of advanced-image analytics and mobile-document-capture applications, to develop a suite of innovative image-capture solutions across multiple smartphone operating systems.

As a part of the agreement Chase will implement Mitek’s mobile-banking and advanced image-capture and analytics products across a variety of smartphone operating systems. QuickDeposit allows customers to deposit checks anytime and anywhere with a click of their mobile phone camera.

A provider of mobile banking solutions across the US mFoundry has launched a new standalone mobile remote deposit capture solution dubbed mDeposit Express to help banks and credit unions provide customers with an immediate mobile deposit solution, regardless of their current mobile banking platform.

mFoundry says in the official statement that mDeposit Express can be converted on-the-fly-into a complete, multi-mode mobile banking solution with a direct host system or home banking integration without any disruption to the mobile deposit service.

A global provider of financial services Fiserv announced the upgrade of its Virtual Brach, an online banking suite developed specifically for credit unions.

Alcatel-Lucent’s Youth Lab - a research arm limited to those born between 1977 and 1998 - found that almost 90% of young people would like to pay a monthly fee for a mobile-phone wallet, mainly for the privilege of not having to wait in line for movie tickets.

The survey polled over 200 participants, spread over 10 countries and self selected. Some insight into the demographic may be gleaned from the fact that a third of the participants had already used their mobile phone to buy bus or rail tickets, and almost the same figure to pay for parking.
