Visa gives US small businesses an opportunity to benefit from microloans

Visa Inc. has announced about its partnership with Kiva.org, the world's first personal micro-lending website, owing to which the U.S. small businesses can access and benefit from microloans. Supported by a $1 million contribution from Visa, the partnership expands the reach of Kiva's pioneering microlending model within the United States to further empower small businesses and support job creation.

CGAP and Wizzit make mobile banking real for the poor in South Africa

Microfinance group CGAP established a partnership with South Africa's Wizzit Bank in a move to trial mobile banking services in the smallest towns and communities of the country. The program is targeting the major wholesalers serving more than 500 microentrepreneurs, who run small 'spaza' shops, in the township of Motherwell, where three in five people are unbanked.
