It became known that Barclays Bank has partnered M-Pesa, a mobile money transfer service of Safaricom company. Owing to this new partnership the Barclays Bank account holders can now deposit and withdraw funds to and from their account using their mobile phones. According to Adan Mohamed, the Barclays managing director for East and West Africa this step was taken to popularize bank services and to make access to the service easier.

Yesterday Somali Islamists Shebab, a powerful organization which controls a large swathe of Somalia came with a statement that they ban mobile transfers launched by a number of companies. "The companies Telesom, Golis and Hormuud which developed the service in the country so far should stop it," they said. The companies have only 3 months to bring their new service to close.

It became known that Western Union has selected MoreMagic Solutions, a provider of mobile payment and mobile money transfer solutions for its Mobile Vendor Program.
The main aim of this program is decrease of integration costs and to create standard technical deployments to help banks and mobile operators to penetrate the market.

According to the recent global survey conducted by KPMG, Chinese people use their cell phones to get into the Internet. Being more specific, 77% of Chinese people use their mobile devices to carry out financial transactions, and 44% for retail transactions, while in India 38% are using them to shop, and 43% for financial business.
One and a half year ago the company conducted the similar survey. Now having compared the statistics it was found that the number of people using mobile phones for online transactions increased from 19% to 46%.

As it became known on Tuesday, Bangkok Bank signed up for Fiserv's Mobile Money service aiming to get access to its Internet banking platform from their handsets.
The new M-Com powered browser-based application now is available in two languages Thai and English. The new service enables customers to view account information, pay bills, transfer funds and top up their mobile phone account.
