According to the latest rumors Google is preparing to launch its own Android based tablet computer. The company is partnering with LG on a Nexus-branded tablet running the Android Honeycomb 3.0 OS.
According to the tech industry observer Eldar Murtazin who writes for Mobile-Review the tablet could ship as early as this summers. |

LG Electronics will launch a swipe payment system for product and service retailers across Europe next year, according to the statement of a senior executive.
"The point-of-sale technology, which will be targeted at small and medium-sized businesses and will involve NFC or near field communications and cloud computing, is currently in beta testing," Jin-Yong Kim, vice president for business solutions at LG's Home Entertainment division, told Reuters in an interview.
"The plan is to launch it in Europe in 2012," he added. |

According to the unnamed sources LG Electronics plans to launch an 8.9-inch computer tablet device running the yet-to-be-introduced version of Google Android, called Honeycomb.
The tablet will come first in South Korea and then in other countries early next year. It will be built on the Honeycomb operating system that was specifically developed by Google for tablet PCs. |

Microsoft has confirmed that on October 11, 2010 it will launch Windows Phone 7 with an even to be hosted this day. The event will take place at 3:00 pm at the software maker's Technology Center in midtown Manhattan, New Yok.
Meantime, Windows Phone 7 devices, from a list of Microsoft partners that includes HP, Samsung, LG, Toshiba, and Sony Ericcson, are expect to go on sale about a month later, according to industry reports. |

LG Electronics announced that it will launch its first smartphone on the Windows Phone 7 architecture by the end of September with more devices to come by the end of the year. The phone, photos of which have been already spread across the Internet, is ready to go, according to LG.
"We have a deep relationship with Microsoft so expect to have a couple by the end of this year," said Ken Hong, an LG representative in Seoul. |

As it appears from the latest Microsoft report large companies will unlikely adopt Windows Phone 7 based mobile devices because phones from HTC, Dell, LG, and Samsung won't work out of the gate in October with standard Microsoft technologies used by corporations to deploy and manage their apps. |

Research In Motion, LG Electronics, Nokia and HTC are under the investigation of the U.S. International Trade Commission that has received a complaint from FlashPoint Technology. Peterborough, New Hampshire-based FlashPoint alleges that the smartphone makers have violated three patents related to the digital camera functions in the devices.
The complaint seeks an injunction on the import of such products as the Nokia 5230 Nuron, the RIM Blackberry Storm2 9550, the HTC Droid Incredible, the HTC myTouch 3G, the LG Ally and the LG eXpo GW820. |

The Mobile World Cup contest was arranged by LG in New York for 26 contestants from 13 countries last week. The grand prize for the overall performance was taken by the South Korean team while a Portuguese player set a new texting world record.
There were two competitors in each team including one who specialized in numeric keypads, the other in QWERTY. The goal of the games were to measure texting speed while the efficiency was also a priority. |

According to a new report from Gartner, global mobile phone sales reached 308.9 million units in the third quarter of 2009, a slight increase of 0.1 percent from the third quarter of 2008.
Smartphone sales showed solid growth with more than 41 million units sold for a 12.8 percent increase from the same period last year. |

World largest electronics company LG has demonstrated the world’s largest OLED TV at this year’s ongoing IFA event in Berlin. While having a size of 15 inches the screen is the largest super-thin screen with Sony having offered its 11 inch XEL-1 last year.
Sony’s OLED display is just 3mm thick and, although LG hasn’t yet formally announced how thick its OLED display is, brief gaze at the screen suggests that the two are of equal thickness.

As The Register reported on Thursday, the largest land-line phone company and second-largest mobile service provider in America, AT&T, announced the implementation of a trial program of subsidized netbooks with two-year contracts for wireless and wired internet access, with initial buy-in starting cost of $50. The AT&T’s pilot program will be offered just trough eight company owned retail locations in Atlanta, Georgia, and another eight in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
