Yet another study says video gaming deteriorates children’s brains

A new controversial study supported the idea that video games are harming the kids’ minds. The 2-year research that polled over 3,000 school children in Singapore says that nearly one in ten were video game "addicts," and most were stuck with the problem.

While these kids were more likely to have behavioral problems to begin with, excessive gaming appeared to cause additional mental woes.

PCs and Internet don’t make kids from poor families cleverer, quite the opposite

According to the new study conducted by professors Jacob Vigdor and Helen Ladd of the Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy in North Carolina, giving children home computers and Internet access in a move to contract the gap between poor and wealthy in what relates to education and intellectual abilities leads to the opposite results. The researchers think that these efforts widen achievement gaps in maths and reading between rich and poor - and causes an overall skills decline across society to boot.

95% kids in the EU have mobile phones

The European Commission unveiled an interesting fact: half of 10 year old kids in the EU own mobile phones. This figure reaches 95% concerning all the kids under 16 years old. However parents are still anxious that their children are not protected enough.

So, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland and Luxembourg don’t have "voluntary" agreements requiring operators to control access to adult-orientated material. In those countries only 41% of operators worry whether those measures are working.
