Cazenove and JPMorgan are to reach an agreement on joint venture’s share price

As it became known from the Independent on Sunday newspaper, senior management at Cazenove and JPMorgan are to reach an agreement, concerning a price for Cazenove's share of their J. P. Morgan Cazenove joint venture by the end of the year. The joint venture was created in 2005. And in compliance with the terms of the deal there are options for JPMorgan to buy or Cazenove to sell its interest in the joint venture in February 2010.

John J. Mack to leave CEO post at Morgan Stanley

John J. Mack will step down as CEO of Morgan Stanley in January but will continue as chairman, the investment bank announced Thursday.

Mack will be succeeded by Co-President James P. Gorman.

Robert Kidder, lead director of Morgan Stanley, said in a statement that Mack told the board 18 months ago he wanted to step back from the CEO role when he turns 65 in November. Mack has led Morgan Stanley for four years.

The new company will be similar to the joint venture Alibaba.com set up with Japanese mobile-phone and Internet company Softbank Corp. The Japanese joint venture caters to local small and midsize businesses.

HSBC is seeking to establish an investment unit in China

HSBC executive director and chairman for Asia-Pacific, Vincent Cheng said in an interview for Reuters that the bank is in talks with potential partners to set up an investment banking joint venture in China, adding that acquisition prospects in Asia are too expensive and that the bank will focus on organic growth. The move will allow the bank to expand into China`s domestic securities and debt markets.

Travelport announced its partnership with payment processor PSP International for a payment, settlement and reporting platform for agencies and other travel suppliers, including airlines. The agreement was completed on June 24.

Gordon Wilson, Travelport GDS president and CEO, said that the joint venture is running, and the partners are working to expand the payment offering beyond its Australian roots to key markets in Europe and North America.

ICBC purchases 70% of Bank of East Asia’s Canadian unit

The world's largest bank by market value Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) declared on Thursday about its intension to acquire 70% of Bank of East Asia's Canadian unit. In such a way ICBS is expanding overseas.

According to those both banks, ICBC will pay $73 million (HK$567 million) for the stake. Also they added that Hong Kong-based Bank of East Asia would buy out ICBC in ICEA Finance, their Hong Kong joint venture.
