80% of Apple iOS devices fail to count clicks for advertisers

According to the new finding of an agency that helps manage paid search advertising most Apple iOS devices including iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches fail to count paid-search conversions (i.e., clicks) because cookie-tracking is turned off.

It is known that all Apple mobile devices use the Safari as the default browser and so do Apple laptops and desktop PCs. It is also known that Safari blocks third-party cookies by default from considerations of privacy. But it is very bad for advertisers.

Microsoft discards manufacture of Zune players

Microsoft stops making its Zune digital media player while it will still continue offering music and video using the same software online via its Xbox game console and Windows mobile phones. While according to many experts Zune is much superior to the iPod Touch it came too late to the market and failed to rival Apple’s player.

"We have nothing to announce about another Zune device," a Microsoft spokesman said in an emailed response to questions about the Zune. Bloomberg earlier reported that the company had decided to stop producing them.

Apple will make next iPod touch with 3D effect

Japanese Kanteidan Blog reported that Apple is palnning to release its next generation iPod touch with glass-free screens that can display 3D images.

Earlier in December 2010 Apple registered a patent for 3D projection technology that does not require the use of 3D glasses.

At the core of the technology is that every pixel is projected onto the reflecting surface with corrugated texture which redirects different images to the left and right eyes of spectators producing thus a 3D effect. Maybe this will be used for iPod touch.

Apple patent will make jailbreaking illegal despite US legislation allows it

While it was recently found that jailbreaking of Apple products to allow users to run third-party unsigned code on their devices by unlocking the operating system does not violate copyright laws defined by the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act, new Apple patent application filed earlier this year may put an end to such practices.

On the surface the patent primarily protects users from theft, but the ‘secondary’ aim is to stamp out jailbreaking, despite the practice now legal under "fair use" in the US.
