Mozilla wants to rival Google Chrome: four Firefoxes will come in 2011

In a move to compete with Google which makes updated browsers every six to eight weeks Mozilla announced that it is planning to release four new versions of Firefox this year shortening thus the browser’s cycle. Up to present days Mozilla has released updated versions every 12 to 18 months.

The draft of Mozilla’s Firefox roadmap for 2011 shows that one of the non-profit entity’s priorities is to "ship our new technology to users in smaller bundles, more frequently."

A popular online investment program Lion Funds has warned its investors against using Google Chrome Browser. According to the investment project a new version of popular Google Chrome browser has critical security errors, and it is not recommended to use this browser until the problem resolves.

Google Chrome takes the lead close to Firefox: Opera and Safari far behind

According to the latest data from StatCounter by Pingdom Google’s web browser experienced high growth catching up to Firefox this year. Over the past 12 months Chrome’s market share rose from 3.7 percent in September of 2009 to 11.5% by September this year.

As the graph shows Safari, Opera, and "Other" even taken together cannot match Google’s brainchild.

Chrome is coming this year to PCs: should Microsoft and Apple be concerned?

Google made an official announcement that it will launch a complete version of its Chrome operating system in the fourth quarter while the exact launch date will be provided later. The Chrome OS "will be offered to users in the fourth quarter," said Sundar Pichai, Google's vice president of product management, during a speech at the Computex electronics exhibition in Taipei.

According to the reports by Net Applications the number of users of Microsoft Internet Explorer has decreased to 59.95% in April, which is down from 60.65 per cent in March and 67.77 per cent in April 2009. It should be noted that in January 2009 Internet Explorer had a 70% market share which means over 15 months it has climbed down 10%.

On the other hand, Google Chrome continued its upward pace with a 6.73% mark recorded in April, up from 6.13% for March and 1.79% in April 2009.

A researcher published the Google Chrome clickjacking vulnerability PoC last week. Clickjacking occurs when an attacker places an invisible button just above the viewable content of the web page. The attacker then waits for the user to mistakenly click the button. Once the user has clicked the infected button, they unknowingly can be forced into actions not otherwise intended.

Mozilla fails to keep the word and delays launch of Firefox 3.1

According to the developer meeting notes released by Mozilla launch of Firefox 3.1 is being delayed again. The company has announced that the source browser still had 18 bugs, while its main competitors Google Chrome and Microsoft IE 8 have already been released.

Firefox 3.1 that was supposed to be twice as fast as Firefox 3.0 at loading Javascript pages was planned to be launched before Christmas.
