Bank of Ireland will pay €3 mln to 43,000 ATM glitch victims

Bank of Ireland is to refund a total of €3 million to 43,000 ATM users after glitch. 

The ATM glitch was caused by a problem with anti-fraud systems saw money incorrectly debited from their accounts.

The bank says it apologized for the error and has informed the country's Financial Regulator.

Gemalto to pay up to EUR10 million for corrupted payment cards

Gemalto, a smart card supplier, will book an exceptional charge of up to EUR10 million in its 2009 results. The charge comes to cover financial claims stemming from a Y2K-related coding error that rendered millions of German payment cards unable to process the 2010 date-change.

As a result of the glitch as many as 30 million payment card users were unable to use their cards in cash machines and eftpos terminals across the country. German customers traveling overseas were also hit.

Amazon restored “Brokeback Mountain” and apologized

Couple of days before, the “glitch" on Amazon.com led to thousand of books sales missing numbers. According to The Associated Press report, on Tuesday Amazon fixed the situation, returning the numbers for Annie Proulx's "Brokeback Mountain," James Baldwin's "Giovanni's Room" and other notable titles.

“Unfortunately, a glitch by our banking partner in their system upgrade has resulted in a technical issue which is directly impacting our bank transfer functions at this time. We expect that they will resolve their issue shortly. Until this issue is remedied, we will have to disable Bank Transfers to account holders in USA and Canada,” said AlertPay.
