Mobile apps popularity prompts e-vendors to fasten mobile strategies developing

According to the latest research conducted by Forrester Research and Shop.org, increasing popularity of mobile applications among consumers is driving online retailers to speed up their mobile marketing initiatives.

Thus far, almost 75% of online merchants currently have or are developing a mobile strategy. At the same time, 20% have a mobile strategy already settled.

Forrester Research, an independent research company that provides pragmatic and forward-thinking advice to global leaders in business and technology, carried out a survey of more than 1,400 IT executives and technology decision-makers located in Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East, and Africa. According to a new survey, IT professionals in the Emerging Asian countries of China, India, and Vietnam are the most optimistic about IT budgets this year, with 19 % of respondents expecting to increase their tech spending in 2009, followed by Latin American IT professionals at 12 %.

As HSBC Direct reported, nearly a half of all American Internet users apply to online banking. That reflected a 23% growth since the early 2007.

The study revealed 62% of users aged 21 to 34 conduct most of their banking through the Internet. Among the customers aged 45 to 69 40% use their online banking account actively. What’s important, customers are likely to use their online banking account on the days when their closest bank has a day off. In 2008, HSBC’s Web site experienced almost 25% of its traffic over the weekend.

US Department of Commerce (DOC) made a retail e-commerce research. It shows that online sales represent a minuscule percentage of overall retail sales. In 2007, only 3.2% of total retail sales took place on the Internet. There were some large categories where e-commerce has hardly made a dent. Among them are autos, gasoline and groceries. The DOC data illuminates a seasonal trend: Online sales penetration is greatest in Q4.
