9 cases have been brought against Google in Europe

Google is investigated under 9 cases brought against it with the EU regulators, according to the sources with the knowledge of the matter.

So far the European Commission confirmed 4 cases against Google. The new complaints will extend EU regulator’s current investigation.

"The Commission has nine formal complaints now. The new complaints come from small companies," said one of the sources who declined to provide details because of the sensitivity of the matter.

WikiLeaks will sue Visa and MasterCard for their refusal to process donations to the website. The whistle-blower service is now working with the lawyers in Denmark and Iceland along with its credit card processing partner DataCell to launch a lawsuit against the card schemes for "engaging in an unlawful, US influenced, financial blockade".

European Commission says social networks violate children’s safety

The European Commission found that only two social networking websites make profiles of young users private by default. In the course of the test of 14 social networks it was found that only Bebo and MySpace have default settings to make minors' profiles more private. The test was meant to check if the sites were complying with the E.U.'s Safer Social Networking Principles, a self-regulatory agreement that they signed up to in 2009.

Forex news: the euro strengthens on positive data from Europe

The euro appreciated against majors on a rally in equities as well as strong outlook from the European commission and some upbeat data from the region.

The euro advanced to a 1-week high of 1.2895 against the Swiss franc around 4:00 am ET and the pair moved mostly sideways thereafter. The euro-franc pair is presently worth 1.2873 with 1.30 seen as the next probable resistance level. The pair settled Monday's deals at 1.2826.

Investigations into Apple’s policies were cancelled by the European Commission

Two anti-trust probes were dropped by the European Commission who investigated Apple’s two policies related to iPhone. The cases were cancelled as the Cupertino reversed its policies under the pressure.

The investigation was launched by the Commission earlier this year regarding Apple's iPhone warranty policy within the European Union and mandates over what development tools and programs could be used to develop Apple-compatible applications.

Apple said earlier this month that it would remove restrictions on using other development tools.

Google, Microsoft and Yahoo still do not comply with the European regulation on data retention, a panel of EU data protection authorities told in public letters sent to these companies.

An independent data protection and privacy body Article 29 Data Protection Working Party sent public letter to the three major search engines advising them that while it welcomes their efforts to bring their data retention policies in compliance with the law these measures are scarce.

US Justice Dept and European Commission approve Microsoft-Yahoo deal!

On Thursday US and European regulators at last approved the deal between Microsoft Corp and Yahoo Inc. The 10-year agreement that was signed by the two leaders in July last year is the biggest effort by Microsoft to challenge Google in the searching industry where it lost $5 billion over the last four years.

"In terms of our modeling, we really don't see any impact from Microsoft-Yahoo on our Google numbers," said Clayton Moran, an analyst at The Benchmark Co.

According to a monthly survey by the European Commission, euro zone economic sentiment improved more than expected in June, especially among consumers and service providers, as hopes increased the economic crisis may be easing.
