A smart cards supplier Oberthur Technologies partnered with Dyetron S.A, a provider of smart card-based technology solutions for the transportation, communications, for offering EMV cards in Colombia. EMV (Europay MasterCard VISA) chip & pin is the global electronic transaction standard that outlines interaction between chip (smart) cards and merchant terminals to ensure worldwide inter-operability.

Gemalto has been selected by Le Crédit Lyonnais for the first banking card customized with a personal photograph in France. Gemalto provides LCL with a web-based solution to easily upload identity photograph of users onto the bank`s website, and it also supplies picture validation services and personalizes the cards. The service has been rolled-out since end of May 2009. 

Gemalto has announced that it will provide Banco Santander with innovative technology for its university identity card program. It is Brazil’s first multi-functional smart card combining EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) payment and contactless access control on a single ID card, to be used within the university buildings – for students, teachers and staff.
