Acer manufactures Greenpeace certified laptops

Two new environment friendly laptops were introduced by Acer this week. The two notebook models were labeled by the environmental group, Greenpeace, as being virtually free of two toxic substances, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFR).

Acer Aspire 3811TZ and Aspire 3811TZG, which represent slim, light laptops that use Intel's ULV (ultra low voltage) Core 2 Duo microprocessors for long-lasting batteries, were certified by Greenpeace.

As Obama announced at a town hall meeting Thursday, clean energy will support the economic recovery and uphold the environment. 

 At the meeting, one of the participants asked Obama what can be done to make environmental policies more effective. So, the president suggested promoting renewable energy and reducing the nation's dependence on foreign oil.

Green projects in Korea to be supported by J.P. Morgan’s new fund

On Wednesday Korean media agency the Yonhap citing government officials in Seoul reported that J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. plans to launch a $1 billion fund to invest in green and eco-friendly industries in South Korea.

Under this new project the J.P. Morgan fund will invest in South Korea's eco-friendly industries such as light-emitting diodes, solar power, wind power and bio-energy sources according to South Korea's Ministry of Knowledge Economy, says the paper.

The most recent survey conducted by ABI Research in North America revealed that almost half of mobile consumers surveyed are somewhat likely or even very likely to be influenced by suppliers’ green credentials while purchasing devices. The survey was conducted in March, 2009. There were queried more than 1000 adult consumers in the US.

Samsung, a global leader in hi-tech products manufacturing, announced about the launch of the five new mobile phone models including a model made from recycled plastic with a solar panel on the back for charging.

In a statement the company reported that its Blue-Earth solar powered series have a touch screen while the body is made of the plastic taken from the used water bottles. The information on pricing or the terms when the product is scheduled to release was not unveiled by Samsung.

Discover Financial Services introduced its biodegradable Discover® Card option which today is the only financial product of the kind existing in the USA.
