First Data Corporation is partnering with VeriFone Systems on a new VeriFone edition of the First Data TransArmor solution for U.S. multi-lane and petroleum merchants.

The new solution will allow businesses who use VeriFone's MX 800 series of devices, Secure PumpPay and the Ruby point-of-sale (POS) solutions to take advantage of a complete security solution combining VeriFone's VeriShield encryption along with tokenization technology from RSA, the Security Division of EMC Corporation.

Those Firefox users who concern about Internet eavesdropping can now get access to a new add-on, HTTPS Everywhere, offering encryption of their interaction with a variety of popular websites, including Facebook and Twitter.

HTTPS Everywhere represents the free add-on that is the result of a collaboration between the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and the Tor Project.

The sites with which the software works include Google, Wikipedia, Twitter, Facebook, Paypal, as well as content sites such as The new York Times, The Washington Post, and the EFF and Tor.

HPS raises security issues and speaks about better credit card encryption

The top executive at Heartland Payment Systems Inc. last week called on credit card vendors, payment processors and retailers to embrace an encryption standard that would protect credit and debit card numbers.

Robert Carr, Heartland's chairman and CEO, told the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee that industry guidelines today don't require encryption of credit card numbers during transit between retailers, payment processors and card issuers.

eBay's payment system PayPal has announced about the new payment button designer and some innovations the company added. One of them is an inventory tracking feature that lets to set a product’s inventory level for each button created. Once the inventory becomes low, PayPal sends an email reminding that the product is almost out of stock. Also the users can choose the option that automatically disables the button when inventory depletes.
