According to the latest research conducted by Javelin Strategy and Research for eBillme Online Spending Index this year consumers plan to spend more money for holiday gifts. Last year this figure was 29%, and this year the number of people wishing to buy gifts online has grown by 9%. On average during the fourth quarter, consumers are planning to spend an average of $283.68 online, a 3 percent increase over Q4 2009.

 As the largest retail shopping season of the year approaches, eCommerce retailers can expect a surge in consumer spending compared to the previous quarter. Consumers anticipate that they will spend an average of $281 online during Q4 2009, a 24 percent increase over last quarter. While this represents the first increase in spending since last year, it is an 18 percent decrease in the overall spending rate as compared to Q4 2008.
