eBay further bejewels its PayPal service by discarding Google Checkout

According to the latest reports an online auction giant eBay will no longer support Google Checkout payment system starting next July. Users won’t be allowed to use any checkout service except eBay’s own payment processor PayPal.

Explaining the move the company says it wants “to give eBay buyers a consistent, speedy checkout experience and to ensure support for fast-growing sales via mobile platforms...,” Todd Lutwak, eBay’s vice president of the seller experience, wrote in a little-noticed blog post last week.

eBay has expressed its concerns over the proposed legislation on additional taxation of the ecommerce merchants. Tod Cohen, Vice President for Government Relations and Deputy General Counsel at eBay Inc., made the following statement upon the introduction of legislation to expand sales tax collection on the Internet, H.R. 5660 by Congressman Bill Delahunt (D-MA).

eBay announced that starting August 4th it will be removing AdCommerce placements on eBay.com and eBay.ca. It will continue to offer the service in Europe and Australia. The program allowed eBay sellers to buy pay-per-click ads on search result pages linking to their eBay stores and listings.

As soon as users encountered problems with the signal on their new iPhones 4 and reported their complaints Apple made recommendations on the right holding of the handset and also advised to cover the phone with a case. And as Apple delays shipments of its own “bumper” casing sellers on eBay found a good way to capitalize on the stir.

"Avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases," Apple said in a statement last Thursday.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch has cut the expectations for Google, Amazon, eBay and Yahoo. It has cut its price targets and now instead of $685, Bank of America Merrill Lynch has taken the position that Google will just hit $630, more than 8% decline.
