The country we are to take in consideration today is a landlocked Serbia located at the crossroads of Central- and Southeastern Europe. Covering the southern lowlands of the Carpathian basin and central part of the Balkans, Serbia borders Hungary to the north, Romania, Bulgaria to the east, Republic of Macedonia to the south, and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro to the west. Country’s border with Albania is disputed. Serbia is a member of the United Nations, Council of Europe, BSEC and is to preside over the CEFTA in 2010. The country is also an EU membership applicant.

Piraeus Bank in Greece announced its plans to launch the first in the nation stand-alone direct bank through an extension of its electronic banking channel Winbank.

At the moment the bank has over 150,000 customers subscribed for its e-banking services and Piraeus wants to improve its offering with the creation of winbankdirect. The new offering is planned to target not only existing Piraeus Bank customers but the entire Greek consumer banking market.

Sudan, the largest country in Africa, and the Arab World, is the country the Internet and e-commerce infrastructure we are interested in for today. This country, located in northeastern Africa, is also tenth largest in the world. Sudan is bordered by Egypt to the north, the Red Sea to the northeast, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the east, Kenya and Uganda to the southeast, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west and Libya to the northwest.

Macedonia, officially known as the Republic of Macedonia, represents a landlocked country located in the central Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe. That is one of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia, from which it declared independence in 1991. Since 1993 Macedonia has been a member of the United Nations but as a result of a dispute with Greece over its name, it was admitted under the provisional reference of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, sometimes abbreviated as FYROM.

Iceland is a miniature European island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, with a population of about 320,000 and a total area of 103,000 km2. Over the recent years, this small government has been one of the wealthiest and most developed nations in the world. Iceland has a free market economy with relatively low taxes compared with other OECD countries, while maintaining a Nordic welfare system providing universal health care and tertiary education for its citizens.

The country, the name of which is transliterated as the “Rich Coast”, Costa Rica represents the only Latin American country included in the list of the world’s 22 older democracies. This Central American country is bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the east and south, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south and the Caribbean Sea to the east. Costa Rica has consistently been among the top Latin American countries in terms of the Human Development Index.

Estonia is one of the Northern Eastland countries that have recently become an EU member. The country, populated by only slightly over 1.3 people, represents one of the least-populous members of the European Union. The country is bordered by the Gulf of Finland to the north, by Latvia to the south, by the Baltic Sea to the west and by the Russian Federation to the east. By today, Estonia has gained recognition for its economic freedom that along with its adaptation of new technologies made the country to become one of the world's fastest growing economies for several years.

Cyprus, the ancient island with human activity known since around the 10th millennium BC, represents a Eurasian island country in the Eastern Mediterranean, located south of Turkey and west of Syria and Lebanon. Cyprus, populated by slightly over 1 million people, ranked the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and one of its most popular tourist destinations.

Sweden, a Nordic country on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe, is the third largest country in the European Union in terms of area, populated by about 9.2 million people, with its capital in Stockholm. Sweden ranks first in the world in The Economist's Democracy Index and seventh in the United Nations' Human Development Index. Sweden has been a member of the European Union since 1995 and is a member of the OECD. The World Economic Forum 2009-2010 competitiveness index ranks Sweden the 4th most competitive economy in the world.

Wednesday, Clear2Pay unveiled it signed a partnership agreement with GFI Informatique for a number of joint activities.
