The country we are to take in consideration today is a landlocked Serbia located at the crossroads of Central- and Southeastern Europe. Covering the southern lowlands of the Carpathian basin and central part of the Balkans, Serbia borders Hungary to the north, Romania, Bulgaria to the east, Republic of Macedonia to the south, and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro to the west. Country’s border with Albania is disputed. Serbia is a member of the United Nations, Council of Europe, BSEC and is to preside over the CEFTA in 2010. The country is also an EU membership applicant. |

Piraeus Bank in Greece announced its plans to launch the first in the nation stand-alone direct bank through an extension of its electronic banking channel Winbank.
At the moment the bank has over 150,000 customers subscribed for its e-banking services and Piraeus wants to improve its offering with the creation of winbankdirect. The new offering is planned to target not only existing Piraeus Bank customers but the entire Greek consumer banking market. |

Macedonia, officially known as the Republic of Macedonia, represents a landlocked country located in the central Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe. That is one of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia, from which it declared independence in 1991. Since 1993 Macedonia has been a member of the United Nations but as a result of a dispute with Greece over its name, it was admitted under the provisional reference of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, sometimes abbreviated as FYROM. |
