Dow Jones to lose half of its value, double-dip recession comes

Charles Nenner, founder and president of Charles Nenner research, forecasts that the Dow Jones Industrial Average will lose about half of its value over the next couple of years as it follows a Nikkei-like pattern of several sharp rallies in an overall decline.

 As the Group of 20 leaders confirmed their intention to keep supporting the world economy thus strengthening investors’ desire for risk the US stock rally send the Dow industrials to a 13-month high on Monday.

Meantime, the US dollar dropped to a 15-month low, bolstering commodity prices and materials stocks. Freeport MacMoRan Copper & Gold Inc shares shot up 4.6 percent to $83.20 and the S&P materials sector index gained 3.2 percent.

Dow Jones is up above 7,000 again

On Thursday the Dow Jones industrial regained above the 7,000 level. The market was led by gains in General Electric (GE) and General Motors (GM). While Standard & Poor's Ratings Services downgraded GE’s credit rating from AAA to AA+ its were 12% higher Thursday.

The Dow Jones industrial average finished higher by 239.66 points, or 3.46%, at 7,170.06. The S&P 500 index was up 29.38 points, or 4.07%, at 750.74.
